The Ford Mustang GT3 is set for on-track testing at Sebring International Raceway this week for what is believed to be the first major test outing for the Blue Oval’s new GT3 challenger.

Ford Performance global motorsports director Mark Rushbrook previously told Sportscar365 that testing for the Multimatic-built car was due to begin in the opening months of the year, utilizing two cars and undertaking running in both North America and Europe.

The marque’s new-for-2024 GT3 challenger broke cover at a launch event last September and will be powered by a a 5.0-liter Coyote-based V8 engine.

Ford will be sharing the track with Toyota Gazoo Racing, which is undertaking a three-day test, described by technical director Pascal Vasselon as Toyota’s “last really proper test session” prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Additionally, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R will also be testing at Sebring, marking the first time the pair of new-for-2024 American GT3 challengers run on the same circuit together.

Sportscar365 believes Joey Hand will be on hand as one of the drivers in the test, although no names have been made available.
