Silverstone Returns to Calendar After Six-Year Absence

The European Le Mans Series will return to Silverstone for the first time since 2019 as the British circuit replaces Mugello as part of a six-round schedule for 2025.

Confirmed on Wednesday, Silverstone will host a four-hour race on Sept. 14, serving as the penultimate round of the season.

The venue joins the calendar in place of Mugello, which recently hosted an ELMS round for the first time, a race won by Iron Lynx-Proton.

Silverstone formed a staple of the ELMS calendar since the series fell under ACO and Le Mans Endurance Management control in 2013 and regularly hosted the season opener, but dropped off the calendar after 2019 following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Its most recent edition formed part of a double header event with the FIA World Endurance Championship and was won by IDEC Sport as part of the French squad’s title-winning campaign.

The rest of the calendar remains unchanged compared to this year, with pre-season testing at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya followed by the season opener on April 6.

The 4 Hours of Le Castellet, held on May 4, is the last fixture prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the series then returning with a round at Imola on July 6.

Spa-Francorchamps and Portimao have both retained their traditional spots on the calendar, with the latter hosting the season finale on Oct. 18.

Notably, that puts the Portimao round on the same weekend as the Intercontinental GT Challenge finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The ACO is extremely pleased to see the ELMS returning to the UK for the first time since 2019, giving the British fans a taste of Le Mans at home at Silverstone.

“The ELMS has firmly established itself as the leading European endurance series. With grids of over 40 cars, featuring a great mix of Le Mans Prototypes and GTs, and some of the top drivers and teams from around the world.nnIt looks like the 2025 season is going to deliver even more.”
