Team owner Amato Ferrari confirmed Sunday that the team has submitted two GTE-Pro entries and three GTE-Am requests, including the 8Star Motorsports entry which his operation will continue to support in 2014. The Enzo Potolicchio-led effort claimed the GTE-Am teams’ title last year.
Two additional Ferraris could also run under the AF Corse banner in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including the team’s auto-invite for winning the Asian Le Mans Series championship, as well as its season-long ELMS entry.
Driver lineups for the Ferraris have yet to be announced, with more likely to be known by the end of the month.
On the GTE-Pro side, Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander are expected to return, having recently tested a 2014-spec Ferrari in Abu Dhabi. However, Kamui Kobayashi has returned to Formula One and Giancarlo Fisichella will focus on the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship with Risi Competizione.
It would not be a surprise to see Ferrari F1 test driver Davide Rigon, who drove select rounds with 8Star last year, to take one of the GTE-Pro seats.
In addition to its Ferrari GTE effort, AF Corse will also assist SMP Racing’s two-car Oreca 03 Nissan program in LMP2.
