Julien Andlauer has been promoted to Porsche Penske Motorsport’s factory LMDh roster as the German manufacturer reshuffles its lineups ahead of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seasons.
The Frenchman will step up to pilot the No. 5 Porsche 963 in WEC, teaming up with Michael Christensen, while Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will continue to team up aboard the No. 6 machine.
Andlauer joins the works lineup amid a reshuffle of the brand’s driver roster for the 2025 seasons that will see Dane Cameron and Andre Lotterer dropped from the program and Frederic Makowiecki leave the manufacturer entirely.
Porsche will opt for two-driver lineups for the majority of the WEC campaign, with Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell set to pilot the No. 5 and No. 6 cars, respectively, for longer races including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The 25-year-old, a former Porsche junior, has been driving GT machinery with the brand since 2018 and delivered some eye-catching performances as part of Proton Competition’s customer Porsche 963 in WEC this year, most notably at Spa-Francorchamps.
By moving into the factory LMDh lineup, Andlauer becomes the fourth Porsche junior to make that step after Christensen, Jaminet and Campbell.
Christensen remains part of the WEC lineup after paddock speculation previously suggested he could move to the WeatherTech Championship as part of a swap with Jaminet.
Jaminet, Campbell Reunited in WeatherTech Championship
Porsche’s reshuffle of its factory LMDh driver lineups also extends to the WeatherTech Championship’s GTP class, where Campbell and Jaminet will reform the partnership that resulted in a GTD Pro title in 2022.
The Australian returns to the U.S. after a year of racing in WEC to share the No. 6 car with Jaminet, while Estre will join them for the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds.
Jaminet and Campbell formed a highly successful pairing in the WeatherTech Championship’s GTD Pro class two years ago, winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona and going on to secure the title driving a Pfaff Motorsports-entered Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Nick Tandy, meanwhile, will instead move across to the No. 7 car to partner up with newly crowned champion Felipe Nasr, replacing the departing Cameron.
Like with the No. 6 car, Nasr and Tandy will be joined by a full-season WEC driver for the longer races in the form of Vanthoor.
Laudenbach: Andlauer’s Promotion Proof of Porsche’s Ladder System
“We compete in 2025 with a changed lineup,” said Porsche motorsport boss Thomas Laudenbach. “Our squad continues to be among the top echelons of endurance racing internationally.
“Plus, we’re remaining dedicated to our very successful initiative by supporting another former Porsche Junior to climb to the top of the career ladder.
“Over the past few seasons, Julien Andlauer has impressed us at the wheel of every Porsche racing car from Weissach. He absolutely deserves this promotion into the works driver squad.”
Porsche Penske Motorsport managing director Jonathan Diuguid added: “Porsche Penske Motorsport has enjoyed successful campaigns in both the IMSA and WEC seasons in 2024.
“We won the 24 Hours of Daytona, scooped the title pool in the IMSA championship and now head to Bahrain leading the drivers’ and manufacturers’ standings.
“Our success is also largely due to the strong performances of our driver pairings. For 2024, we relied on consistency and continuity and made only a few targeted tweaks to the squad. This decision proved to be right.
“Spurred by these successes, we’ll take a similar approach for 2025. The IMSA and WEC race calendars allow us to mobilze the driver pairings even more often. The door has opened for involvement in both series.”
