Hadrien David will make his FIA World Endurance Championship debut, having been named alongside Clemens Schmid as the mandatory Silver-rated drivers in Akkodis ASP Team’s Lexus LMGT3 program.
David, a former French Formula 4 champion, will share the No. 78 Lexus RC F GT3 with fellow team newcomer Tom van Rompuy and Toyota protege Esteban Masson.
The 21-year-old steps up to WEC after winning the LMP3 title in Michelin Le Mans Cup this past season, which came at the end of his second year since transitioning away from junior single seaters.
In addition to his LMP3 success, David also picked up three victories in GT4 European Series powered by Rafa Racing Club racing for the Matmut Evolution squad, which operates as a sister team to the Jerome Policand-led ASP outfit.
David replaces Finn Gehrsitz aboard the No. 78 Lexus, with the German departing the team in order to join Garage 59’s lineup for its debut season running the McLaren LMGT3 program.
Schmid, meanwhile, will stay on with ASP for a third consecutive season, having been part of both of the team’s two LMGT3 class wins this year.
The Austrian will form part of an unchanged lineup aboard the No. 87 car, teaming up with Petru Umbrarescu and Jose Maria Lopez.
