KCMG’s LMP2 class pole-winning run has been disallowed, following an infraction in qualifying for Saturday’s FIA WEC Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas.
The No. 47 Oreca 05 Nissan of Matt Howson and Richard Bradley was stripped of the class pole due to driving the car in the opposite direction of the track.
Howson ground to a halt just past pit-exit at the start of the 20-minute prototype qualifying session, which saw the LMP2 car slide backwards before being towed back to the pits.
It will result in the LMP2 championship-leading entry starting from the rear of the 31-car field in Saturday’s race.
As a result of the Stewards’ decision, pole has gone to the No. 26 G-Drive Racing Ligier JS P2 Nissan of Sam Bird, Roman Rusinov and Julien Canal.
