Peugeot has confirmed that it has signed Nick Cassidy to its FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar driver lineup for the 2026 season.
The French manufacturer hinted last month that it was set to add the New Zealander to its roster of driving talent, which would allow Cassidy to make his WEC return after several seasons away.
He last competed in the series as part of a GTE-Am campaign with Ferrari in 2022, racing alongside Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci.
Cassidy’s move to Peugeot comes after he wrapped up a tenure at Jaguar TCS Racing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and is expected to coincide with a switch to a Stellantis-backed team in the all-electric single seater series as well.
In addition to 11 Formula E race victories, his resume also includes titles in Super Formula and SUPER GT as well as two race wins in DTM.
“I’m very proud to be joining Peugeot for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship,” said Cassidy.
“Racing for such an iconic brand in endurance racing — especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans — is a dream opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the team’s ambitions and taking on the challenge ahead.”
It is not yet known who Cassidy’s teammates at Peugeot will be, or who he will replace. He will sample the 9X8 at a test at Circuit of The Americas on the Tuesday following this weekend’s Lone Star Le Mans event.
“We are delighted to welcome Nick to the Peugeot program” said technical director Olivier Jansonnie.
“His experience in various disciplines, his technical approach, and his speed make him a valuable asset for the team.
“This session in Austin will be an important first contact with the Peugeot 9X8, ahead of his official entry into our full-time driver line-up for the 2026 season.
“Theo Pourchaire will also drive the Peugeot 9X8 during this test session.”
