HB Racing Team Herberth has won the second running of the Hankook 12H Italy-Mugello, the second round of this year’s 24H Series.

The No. 7 Porsche 997 GT3 R, driven by Daniel Allemann, Ralf Bohn, Robert Renauer and Alfred Renauer took the lead on lap 185, during the third Code 60-period of the day.

Before that, the Porsche had been battling for the lead with the No. 30 Ram Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, driven by Tom Onslow-Cole, Adam Christodoulou and Paul White, the two cars separated by just a couple of tenths of a second.

That changed when the Code 60 flags were waved, just after 12 p.m. The Porsche got into the pits right away, while the Mercedes had to do another lap at 60 km/h and then ended up in a queue for refueling.

Despite a gear selection issue causing a longer pit stop the HB Porsche managed to retain its lead over the Mercedes and after 342 laps Robert Renauer crossed the finish to take the win, almost a full lap ahead of Christodoulou.

Behind the Porsche and the Mercedes it was the No. 9 Hofor Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 of Chantal Kroll, Michael Kroll, Roland Eggiman, Kenneth Heyer and Christiaan Frankenhout that took third place, despite having started the second part of the race from the third row.

The No. 66 Black Pearl Racing by Rinaldi Ferrari 458 Italia claimed fourth place, with Pierre Kaffer passing the No. 67 GDL Racing Mercedes SLS AMG GT3, driven by Duncan Huisman, on the final lap.

Dubai winners Optimum Motorsport claimed victory in the SP3 class for GT4 cars, while IDEC SPORT Racing (Ruffier Racing) took the 997 class honors with its Porsche 991 Cup.

Other class winners were the No. 91 MARC Focus V8 (SP2), the No. 31 Duller Motorsport BMW (A5), the No. 98 Bas Koeten Racing Seat Leon Cup Racer (A3T), the No. 73 Bonk Motorsport BMW (Cup 1), the No. 115 Team K-Rejser Peugeot (A2).

RESULTS: After 12 hours
