Renger van der Zande will start tomorrow’s 24 Hours of Barcelona from pole, leading a sweep of the front row for Mercedes-Benz in the fifth round of the 24H International Series.
The Dutchman pedaled his Car Collection Motorsport Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 to a quick lap of 2:05.991, edging out Christisan Frankenhout’s Hofur Racing entry by 0.118 seconds
Van der Zande will share driving duties in this weekend’s race with Peter Schmidt, Alexander Mattschull, Johannes Siegler and Rik Breukers.
A mixed-condition qualifying session saw a number of GT4 and touring cars set faster lap times than the A6 GT3 cars, which qualified during a separate session in the rain.
However, Creventic has ruled the overall grid will follow the order to As6, SP2 and 997 cars, respectively, for safety reasons.
The 24 Hours of Barcelona gets underway Saturday at 12 p.m. local time, with live streaming available at 24HSeries.com.
