Sprint Challenge Faces Tricky Conditions to Cap Off Season

A season-long battle for championships came to a dramatic conclusion at Road Atlanta, where Porsche Sprint Challenge North America crowned its champions while also setting the stage for an exciting 2027 season featuring the new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) and Porsche 911 Challenge race cars.

The Sprint Challenge season came to a close at Road Atlanta, a round that delivered the toughest race conditions all season long.

Heavy rain fell over the 2.54-mile circuit in Braselton, Ga. on Saturday after an enjoyable day prior, but drivers embraced the challenge as they approached the final checkered flag of the year.

Staut, Boden Become GT3 Cup Class Champions after Race 1

Karel Staut became the youngest GT3 Cup champion in series history, finishing with nine victories and three additional podiums across 13 rounds in the Pro-Am class.

The Kellymoss driver from Belgium would finish second to Danny Dyszelski (Topp Racing) in Race 1, which wound up being the final round as Race 2 was abandoned due to weather. For Dyszelski, it was his third consecutive victory after he and Staut enjoyed a competitive battle since joining the GT3 Cup roster midseason.

Completing the Race 1 podium was Jens Hantson (ACI Motorsports), who ends his year with his best performance and first time on the Sprint Challenge North America podium.

Staut was a runaway champion in the class, but rookie driver Riley Giacomazzi (Competition Motorsports) earns accolades as the runner-up by just 32 points over Matthew Siegal (JDX Racing) in third.

The championship margin was not nearly as wide in the GT3 Cup Masters class, with Mark Boden (Fall-Line Motorsports) ultimately taking home the title. Boden’s consistency proved key throughout the season with six wins and five podiums, finishing by just 48 marks over Alain Scalzo (Scalzo Autosport).

At Road Atlanta, however, the pair followed race winner Todd Treffert (CRP Racing) who celebrated his first win of 2026 after numerous top-three finishes throughout the year. Treffert secured third place in the final championship standings.

RESULTS: Race 1

Cayman Victories Split Amongst Title Contenders; Cecchi and Peluchiwski Crowned

The Cayman classes were able to sneak in both rounds at Road Atlanta ahead of the looming weather and as they’ve done all season long, Anna Cecchi (CHR) and Keith Grant (Grant Motorsports) fought for the top spot.

Grant was off to a quick start to win Race 1 despite Cecchi’s best attempts for a late pass, and the latter was victorious in Race 2 to also crown her the Pro-Am class champion. Cecchi has celebrated success across multiple Porsche single-make series since her professional debut in 2024, and her six Sprint Challenge North America wins this season led to the title.

Coleman Hall (Charles Wicht Racing) joined the grid for the first time this season at Road Atlanta and rounded out the Race 1 podium, while Cody Knight (Topp Racing) did so in Race 2.

Knight finished fourth in the championship standings behind Todd Ruttura (HM Road Racing) in third.

The narrowest championship margin of the season was found in the Cayman Masters category. William Peluchiwski delivered Kellymoss another title by 15 points over Tom Rogers (Tatum Racing), and the pair split race victories at Road Atlanta in the process.

Peluchiwski led flag-to-flag for the win in Race 1, while Rogers overtook the lead on Lap 1 to win the final round of the season. Between the two drivers, Peluchiwski tallied five wins in 2026 versus Rogers’ four.

Ramy Farid (KMC) finished third on the podium in Race 1 and Chad Knight (Topp Racing) did the same in Race 2, as both drivers returned to Sprint Challenge North America for the first time since VIRginia International Raceway in June.

With this year’s champions crowned, attention now shifts to a new era for Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama.

The championship will begin its 2027 season at Sebring International Raceway in March, ushering in the series debut of the new Porsche 911 Cup (Type 992.2) alongside the introduction of the Porsche 911 Challenge.
