The Total 24 Hours of Spa has been red-flagged as a result of heavy rain at the Belgian circuit in the early hours of the morning.

The red flag came out at 5:43 a.m. local time, with 10 hours, 47 minutes on the clock, after a lengthy Full Course Yellow and safety car period.

The race hasn’t been green since the FCY was last brought out at 4:37 a.m. owing to the worsening rain showers which made for treacherous conditions and poor visibility.

Grasser Racing Team is at the top of the timing screen at the moment, ahead of Walkenhorst Motorsport and Dinamic Motorsport, although none of those teams have made their mandatory technical pit stop yet.

SMP Racing’s Ferrari 488 GT3, which has taken its five-minute stop, is running fourth. It also picked up strong points results at the 6 and 12-hour marks, putting it in prime position to secure the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup title today.

The red flag is expected to last for an hour, according to an SRO spokesperson.
