Zac Anderson got around John Capestro-Dubets on the final restart of Saturday’s Pirelli GT4 America to take a dramatic victory at Barber Motorsports Park.
Anderson, in the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4, finished 0.446 seconds ahead of the No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW of Kenton Koch following the late-race restart that shuffled up the order in the Silver class.
Anderson shared top honors with Colin Garrett for their second win of the season.
Capestro-Dubets faded to fourth at the checkered flag, behind the pole-sitting No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO of Tyler Gonzalez in a car that he shared with pole-sitter Corey Lewis.
Lewis, who dropped behind Roman De Angelis in the opening stages of the 60-minute race, with positions having been shaken up following the first yellow for the No. 23 TechSport Nissan Z NIMSO GT4 of Johan Schwartz that stopped on track.
Nearly all of the leading cars pitted under yellow for their mandatory driver changes.
Jason Hart and Matt Travis picked up Pro-Am class honors in their one-off No. 47 Nolasport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entry after a post-race penalty for Matheus Leist in the No. 89 RENNtech Mercedes-AMG GT4 for contact with the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW of Tyler McQuarrie while battling for the class lead in the closing laps.
Am class honors, meanwhile, went to the No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW of James Clay and Charlie Postins, after their closest rival, the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW of Kris Wilson crashed out to bring out the second yellow.
It set up an eight-minute shootout to the finish that shook up the running order in two of the three classes.
RESULTS: Race 1
