Corey Lewis and Matheus Leist have secured pole positions for this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America races at Barber Motorsports Park.
Lewis, in the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO, narrowly edged out the No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo of Roman De Angelis in a heated 15-minute qualifying session.
Lewis’ 1:28.847 lap was a mere 0.002 seconds quicker than De Angelis, who took the Pro-Am class pole.
Eric Filgueiras will line up third overall in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which underwent an overnight engine change.
Alex Ellis and Matt Bell completed the top-five for VPX Motorsports and P1 Groupe, respectively.
Am class pole honors for Race 1 went to the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche of Robb Holland.
Q2 saw Leist take his No. 89 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 to a best lap of 1:28.633, which was just 0.018 seconds ahead of Tyler Gonzalez’s Silver class pole-sitting No. 68 Smooge Toyota.
Tyler McQuarrie will roll off third in Race 2 in his No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4, followed by fellow BMWs from Kenton Koch and Zac Anderson, for Random Vandals Racing and AutoTechnic Racing, respectively.
Jaden Lander scored the Am class pole in the No. 099 Rotek Porsche.
The first GT4 America race of the weekend takes the green this afternoon at 5 p.m. CDT, with Race 2 on tap for Sunday at 10:45 a.m. CDT, with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
