Conquest Racing/JMF Motorsport’s Jesse Webb and Michai Stephens claimed victory in the first Pirelli GT4 America race of the weekend, giving the team a double triumph on Saturday at Road America.
Stephens took the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT4 to the win behind the safety car following an accident from the No. 26 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Rianna O’Meara-Hunt that required extensive cleanup in the closing moments of the 60-minute contest.
It marked the second win of the day for the Eric Bachelart-led team after its Ferrari 296 GT3 of Manny Franco and Alessandro Balzan came out on top in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race.
While having started from the pole, an overcut strategy by the No. 88 STR38 Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 of Harry Gottsacker put Chandler Hull into the lead until the race’s restart with 17 minutes to go when Stephens got around Hull on the outside in Turn 1.
Hull faded to a fourth place finish overall and in the Silver class, behind the No. 92 Random Vandals Racing BMW pairing of Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm, as well as the Zac Anderson solo-driven No. 51 Auto Technic Racing BMW, which completed the podium.
The No. 24 Heart of Racing Aston of Gray Newell and Roman De Angelis picked up top class honors in Pro-Am with a fifth place overall finish, ahead of the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW.
Am class honors, meanwhile, went to the No. 36 BimmerWorld entry of Charlie Postins and James Clay.
The second and final race of the weekend is set for Sunday at 10:55 a.m. CDT with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
