Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm claimed victory in Saturday’s Pirelli GT4 America race at Road America for Random Vandals Racing.

Koch passed the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 of Corey Lewis with 13 minutes remaining in the 60-minute contest, solidifying the victory for the No. 97 BMW M4 GT4.

It came as Lewis and co-driver Tyler Gonzalez were assessed a five-second post-race penalty for a pit stop infringement when their Toyota crept forward during the driver change.

Gonzalez took the lead from pole-sitter John Capestro-Dubets at the start, with a move on the outside of the RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

The pass was moments before a multi-car accident in Turn 2 that took out a number of contenders, including Am class cars from James Walker Jr. and Paul Sparta, of BimmerWorld and Random Vandals, respectively, leading to the race’s only full-course caution.

Lewis dropped to third at the line, behind the second-placed No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW of Zac Anderson and Colin Garett, but was ultimately classified fourth overall behind the No. 28 RS1 Porsche of Eric Filgueiras and Capestro-Dubets, which inherited third.

Pro-Am class honors went to the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Kay van Berlo and Curt Swearingin, having finished fifth overall.

Van Berlo got around the No. 24 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Gray Newell shortly after the pit stop sequence for the lead in the category and ultimate class win.

Newell later faded down the running order but retook third in the closing minutes after the No. 23 TechSport Nissan Z NISMO GT4 of Jonathan Neudorf was ordered to give up multiple positions due to a track limits violation.

The No. 5 Flying Lizard Nissan of Andy Lee and Damit Hot were classified second in class.

The No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche of Jaden Lander and Robb Holland, meanwhile, inherited the Am class win after a three-second post-race penalty was given to the No. 36 BimmwerWorld BMW, which initially crossed the line ahead of Lander.

Race 2 is set for a 10:55 a.m. CDT start on Sunday with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
