Nate Stacy will switch to Pirelli GT4 America Sprint competition next weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park as Rich Golinello recovers from injuries sustained in an accident at Virginia International Raceway.
Stacy and Golinello were initially entered for a full season of GT4 East in the No. 55 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, although a high-speed crash at VIR for Golinello has sidelined him until later this summer.
With the car having been totaled, the Dean Martin-led team will utilize Stacy’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Mustang GT4 chassis next weekend for its expected one-off race in GT4 Sprint competition.
“While I’d prefer to be racing in SprintX East with Rich, I’m thankful for the opportunity to race for KohR in Sprint,” Stacy said. “CTMP is one of my favorite circuits in the SRO series, it’s even where I got my first pro win in TCB, and I am excited to race there again.”
Golinello meanwhile, is expected to return to action in the following GT4 East round at Watkins Glen in late August.
While being hospitalized, the extent of his injuries have not been disclosed.
“I am sad I have to miss the next race at CTMP, since that is one of my favorite tracks,” Golinello said.
“With that said, I am truly excited to rejoin the team at KohR Motorsports for rounds 7 and 8 at Watkins Glen. I have been working with my doctors so that I can come back with a positive outlook and be ready to race!”
