A total of 17 cars are on the provisional entry list for this weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS round at Watkins Glen International, which returns after a one-year hiatus.
The entry list for the fifth round of the SRO America season will see the expected return of Inception Racing to the grid after missing the most recent event at Road America with its McLaren 720S GT3 of Brendon Iribe and Ollie Millroy.
Martin Fuentes has remained at the wheel of the No. 9 TR3 Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo alongside factory driver Giacomo Altoe, while the team’s second, Am class entry, which debuted at last month’s event, is also continuing with Bill Sweedler and John Megrue at the wheel.
The No. 04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which was withdrawn mid-event at Road America due to an accident by George Kurtz, is currently listed for The Glen.
K-PAX Racing’s Andrea Caldarelli and Jordan Pepper extended their Pro class championship lead with their fifth win of the season in Race 1 at Road America and now sit 46 points ahead of teammates Corey Lewis and Giovanni Venturini, who are tied with Turner Motorsport’s Robby Foley and Michael Dinan on 124 points.
Foley and Dinan broke through for their first overall win in series’ competition in Race 2 in their BMW M6 GT3.
The Pro-Am championship continues to be led by the Wright Motorsports duo of Jan Heylen and Fred Poordad, who hold a 67-point advantage over Racers Edge Motorsports’ Taylor Hagler, who will be joined by Jacob Abel this weekend at the wheel of the team’s Acura NSX GT3 Evo.
Abel is fresh off making his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut with fellow GTWC America entrant Compass Racing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Track action kicks off on Friday with a pair of practice sessions, with the first race of the weekend scheduled for Saturday at 1:45 p.m. ET and Race 2 on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. ET.
Both races, along with Pirelli GT4 America, GT America powered by AWS and TC America powered by Skip Barber Racing School action, will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube page.
