Ryan Ratcliffe has been cleared to race in this weekend’s British GT Championship round after sustaining a concussion in a heavy crash in the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The Welshman went off track at Stavelot a couple of hours into the race on Saturday, forcing Team Parker Racing to retire its Bentley Continental GT3 for the second consecutive year.

“Devastated to have crashed out of the @24HoursofSpa, been to the hospital, battered and bruised with concussion!” he Tweeted later on Saturday evening.

“A huge thank you to everyone who has messaged me and a massive thanks to @teamparkeracing for being the most supportive team on the grid!”

Ratcliffe took to Twitter again on Tuesday, confirming he’s been cleared for this weekend’s penultimate British GT round at Brands Hatch.

“Had the OK from the doctors to race this weekend,” he wrote. “Looking forward to getting back in the car and getting back into the swing of things this weekend! Bring on Brands Hatch!”

Ratcliffe and teammate Glynn Geddie are currently eighth in the British GT standings, where they also drive a Team Parker Bentley.

Barwell Motorsport, which won the Silver Cup at Spa, currently occupies first and second in the British GT standings, with Sam De Haan and Jonny Cocker just 0.5 points clear of Phil Keen and Adam Balon.
