US RaceTronics will take part in next month’s California 8 Hours at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, with 15-year-old Steven Aghakhani set for his endurance racing debut.

Aghakhani, who has been on a development program with the California-based team, will share driving duties of a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO with Richard Antinucci and current Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America points leader Taylor Proto.

It will mark the first major race for Aghakhani, who will gain his FIA pro license on his 16th birthday next April.

“Knowing that this race could become one of the most prolific stops in the Intercontinental GT Challenge circuit, I’m really looking forward to facing some true talent and some of the best sports cars from all over the world,” said Aghakhani.

“I’ve continued to push myself this season and know that my hard work and determination will prove to help me come out on top.”

Aghakhani, who first tested a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo at the age of 13, has largely been taking part in SCCA and NASA races this year, winning the southern region championships.

US RaceTronics’ entry is so far the only car entered in the Cup class, which is open to machinery from the single-make Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini series.

An updated entry list for the season-ending round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge is expected later this week.
