Gianmaria Bruni has been confirmed by JDC-Miller Motorsports as its new full season driver alongside the returning Tijmen van der Helm in the team’s Porsche 963 for the upcoming IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Bruni, whose factory contract with Porsche was not renewed for 2025, makes the move over from Proton Competition, where he co-drove the German squad’s GTP class Porsche over the last two years.
“I am very happy to be joining JDC-Miller Motorsports for the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech Championship season,” he said.
“I spent a few days with the team at the Daytona tests in November, and I can’t wait to work with them throughout the entire IMSA championship.
“I am very motivated and expect to see great results. I am looking forward to working with my new teammates at Daytona and through the entire WeatherTech season.”
Bruni replaces Richard Westbrook, who retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2024 season.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Gimmi to the JDC-Miller family,” said team boss John Church. “His impressive track record and deep understanding of sports car racing speak for themselves.
“We believe his experience and skill will be instrumental in our pursuit of success in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
“He and Tijmen are the pair of world-class drivers we need to compete for the championship.”
Bruni was initially listed in Proton’s Porsche for this month’s Rolex 24, although that is now understood to have been in error.
The duo will be joined by ABB FIA Formula E world champion Pascal Wehrlein for the season-opener, with Indy NXT driver Bryce Aron currently listed in the No. 85 on the IMSA-issued entry list.
