A field of 49 cars is set to contest the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season at Paul Ricard this weekend.
The provisional entry includes 16 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVOs in the headlining Pro category, as well as double-figure grids in Pro-Am and Am.
Reigning Pro champion Loris Spinelli is now in the Pro-Am class and has teamed with last season’s Am champion Andrzej Lewandowski at Vincenzo Sospiri Racing.
Spinelli’s former team Bonaldi Motorsport is supporting the new Rebelleo Motorsport outfit which is making its series debut with a single Pro entry for ex-W Series competitor Abbie Eaton and Daan Arrow, who has anglicized his Dutch surname Piijl.
Oregon Team is running three cars in the top category while Iron Lynx and BDR Competition have two cars each in the same division.
Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, Target Racing, Lamborghini Roma by DL Racing, Arkadia Racing and CMR are also involved.
Iron Lynx’s lineup includes former Mercedes-AMG ace Yelmer Buurman and European Le Mans Series LMP3 race winner Ugo de Wilde who are driving separate cars.
Some of the most notable drivers are competing in Pro-Am such as Inception Racing regular Frederik Schandorff who is teaming up with Alex Au at Target Racing.
Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS regular Jim Pla is sharing a Scuderia Villorba Corse Lamborghini with Michael Blanchemain, while former SMP Racing LMP1 driver Egor Orudzhev is part of the ArtLine Team Georgia operation.
Lewandowski’s graduation to Pro-Am opens the door for a new Am champion and there are a dozen entries in the category this season.
Of note, CMR will run the first Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo with hand controls as it enters Am with paraplegic racer Nigel Bailly, who has previously driven adapted LMP2 and GT3 machinery at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
The grid is completed by the five-car LB Cup class where four-time champion Gerard van der Horst is aiming to defend his 2022 title.
After the planned season-opener at Imola was called off due to delayed circuit upgrade works, the first race of the campaign is due to start at 1:25 p.m. local time (7:25 a.m. ET) on Saturday. The second race is scheduled for 10:05 a.m. (4:05 a.m. ET) on Sunday.
