James Sofronas paced Pirelli GT4 America practice at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, jumping to the top of the chart with mere minutes left in the session.

The session-topping lap of 1:27.261 in the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS GT4 was 0.245 seconds quicker than second place Jarett Andretti’s No. 18 McLaren 570S GT4, which was quickest of the Am-class runners.

Michael Cooper jumped to third late in the session for Blackdog Speed Shop, followed by Ian James and Drew Staveley from Team Panoz Racing and Ian Lacy Racing, respectively.

The session was halted for a red flag due to an incident for the Robinson Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R of Gar Robinson.

The team is evaluating the damage to determine whether or not they will need to resort to a backup chassis, which they do have on site.

Robinson posted the 10th fastest lap overall prior to the accident.

Practice 2 is scheduled for 10 a.m. local time with qualifying for the lone race of the weekend to follow at 10:35 a.m.
