GTA Champion Fuentes Withdrawn from Watkins Glen

Pirelli World Challenge GTA class champion-elect Martin Fuentes will not take part in this weekend’s season-ending pair of Sprint races at Watkins Glen International.

Squadra Corsa Garage Italia has pulled Fuentes’ No. 07 Ferrari 488 GT3 from the event after the Mexican driver clinched the title due to two other withdrawals 

Fuentes, who took part in Friday’s second practice session, entered the weekend with an 18-point lead over Dream Racing’s Yuki Harata, who failed to show up to the event on Thursday and was withdrawn.

Parker Chase, who was third in the GTA title race, also withdrew earlier this week due to a death in his family.

It’s left a two-car GTA grid this weekend and ten cars overall in the GT class.
