Kyle Marcelli led the way in a Porsche sweep of the top two quickest times in a rain-affected second practice session for Fanatec GT World Challenge America competitors at Barber Motorsports Park.

The Canadian in the No. 92 MMG Porsche 911 GT3 R set a fastest time of 1:32.903 in the 60-minute session, which saw light rain throughout, to edge out the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche of Tom Sargent.

Alec Udell ended up third in the No. 63 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, ahead of the No. 99 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Kenton Koch, who was fourth best and Jake Pedersen making it three Porsches in the top-five in his No. 85 RS1 machine.

The top times were some 12 seconds slower than Koch’s pace-setting lap from Friday morning in the dry.

Only 12 of the 16 cars turned flying laps in the session, owing to the conditions, which are not expected for either race day.

The session had two red flags, the first for a deer that ventured on to the track and the second for the No. 88 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Riccardo Agostini, who spun into a gravel bed before rejoining on his own.

Qualifying is set for a 9:05 a.m. CDT start on Saturday with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
