Aaron Telitz led the way in a shortened second practice session for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS competitors at Virginia International Raceway, due to severe thunderstorms in the area.

Telitz, in the No. 88 Archangel Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, reeled off a best lap of 1:46.543 in the opening minutes of what was planned to be a reduced 55-minute session due to a severe accident in McLaren Trophy America practice that led to a two-hour track stoppage for barrier and corner worker station repairs.

However, GTWC America competitors only had ten minutes of running in until getting a red flag due to lighting in the area, which was followed by the arrival of heavy rains.

The No. 51 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Bill Auberlen posted the second quickest overall time before the red, while the No. 6 Dollahite Racing Ford Mustang GT3 of Eric Powell was quickest of the Am competitors.

The day’s second Pirelli GT4 America practice session was canceled as a result of the weather.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway Saturday at 9:25 a.m. EST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.

RESULTS: Practice 2
