Zach Veach put Racers Edge Motorsports and Acura atop the time sheets in the second Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS practice session at Road America, which ended in a heavy downpour.

Veach drove his No. 93 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 to a fast lap of 2:06.452 prior to the arrival of rain at the four-mile Wisconsin circuit.

His lap, which was slower than Bill Auberlen’s pace-setting time from the morning, was 0.397 seconds quicker than the second-placed No. 99 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Madison Snow and Kenton Koch.

Auberlen ended up third quickest in the afternoon session, which didn’t see any significant run time in the closing 20 minutes due to the weather.

The No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Tom Sargent was quickest of the Pro-Am class contenders in fourth overall, ahead of the Neil Verhagen and Samantha Tan-driven No. 38 ST Racing BMW in fifth.

Regulator Racing’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Philip Ellis was sixth, with the Am class-leading No. 19 Esses Racing Mercedes-AMG seventh overall.

The session was shortened by ten minutes due to severe weather that halted track action earlier in the afternoon and resulted in an adjusted schedule.

Qualifying is set to get underway Saturday at 9:05 a.m. CDT, with Race 1 scheduled for a 3:10 p.m. start, with both sessions live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
