Mercedes-AMG outfit Auto Sport Promotion has rebranded to Akkodis ASP Team following the merger of AKKA Technologies with IT solutions company Modis.
Having been known as AKKA-ASP since 2015, the racing organization run by Jerome Policand will compete under a new name in the GT3 and GT4 categories.
Its first race event as Akkodis ASP Team will be this weekend’s SRO Motorsports Group meeting at Imola, where it is running Mercedes-AMG machinery in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup and the GT4 European Series.
Modis aligning with AKKA Technologies has resulted in the creation of Akkodis, a digital engineering and R&D company working in fields such as transportation, aerospace and defense, manufacturing, logistics, financial services and energy.
It was established after The Adecco Group, which owns Modis, bought a majority stake in AKKA Technologies.
Akkodis is also an official partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.
“We’re delighted to have Akkodis as our primary partner, bringing their best-in-class IT and engineering R&D expertise to the team,” said Policand.
“We’re really grateful for AKKA Technologies’ support over the past seven years in which time we’ve achieved 22 international and national titles, and 69 victories on the most daunting tracks in the world together.
“Today a new era begins, we’re hugely excited about this next chapter in our team’s history together with Akkodis.”
Akkodis president Jan Gupta added: “We’ve brought 50,000 engineering and digital experts together from AKKA & Modis to form Akkodis, a new global leader in the Smart Industry field.
“Our expertise is helping organizations with their IT and engineering R&D to scale innovation, accelerate digital transformation and deliver solutions to engineer a smarter future.
“We very much look forward to race together, now as Akkodis ASP Team. Together we’ll harness our passion for technology and talent for success on and off the track.”
Akkodis ASP Team is due to run two Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos in GTWC Europe Endurance Cup this weekend, with one featuring AMG factory drivers Jules Gounon, Raffaele Marciello and Daniel Juncadella in the Pro category.
The team’s Silver Cup crew consists of Casper Stevenson, Tommaso Mosca and Konstantin Tereschenko.
