Vanthoor Fastest in Wet Second Practice at Baku

Laurens Vanthoor set the fastest time in the second Free Practice session of the Blancpain Sprint Series Baku World Challenge.

With rain falling at the start of the session, the drivers were cautious on the first couple of laps, trying to avoid hitting the concrete barriers.

The No. 1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT Audi R8 LMS ultra clocked a 1:39.194, right at the end of the session. Until that moment it had looked like Alex Zanardi would finish on top again, the Italian eventually finishing 0.741s behind Vanthoor.

Jeroen Bleekemolen, driving the No. 28 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Gallardo FL2 GT3, finished the session in third place, just over a second behind the No. 1 Audi.

Championship leader Maxi Götz and teammate Maxi Buhk were 14th fastest in the No. 84 HTP Motorsport Mercedes.

Qualifying will get underway at 4 pm local time.
