Loek Hartog has claimed this year’s Porsche Cup as the most successful independent driver in Porsche machinery.
The 23-year-old Dutchman, a former Porsche Carrera Cup North America champion, prevailed against 497 competitors from a total of 53 nations to become the 56th title holder in the prestigious prize.
Hartog, who wins the trophy and €150,000 ($174,000 USD) of prize money, was a class winner in both Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS competition, while also finishing on the overall podium in this year’s Nürburgring 24.
He also took part in selected Pirelli GT4 America races as part of his Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver status and made his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Hartog follows in the footsteps of Joel Sturm, who also as a FIA Silver-rated driver, won the Porsche Cup in 2024.
However, unlike Sturm, who assumed a position as a Porsche-contracted driver this year amid his upgrade to Gold status, soon-to-be Gold-rated Hartog has not been named to the German manufacturer’s official driver roster for 2026.
“It’s not that straightforward or cut-out to now be moved to Gold without having a factory contract somewhere,” Hartog told Sportscar365 in a previous interview. “It’s difficult times and I hope to be in this game for a long time.
“It’s hard if you want to make a career without having financials. This is also why my path has been so diverging, I would say, in the past, just jumping from opportunity to opportunity.
“Where there’s a will there’s a way. I’m already very happy with what I’ve achieved and with everyone I’ve been able to work with.”
The Porsche Cup has been presented annually since 1970 on the initiative of Ferry Porsche.
