The No. 8 Bentley Continental GT3 was brought into the garage shortly before one-third race distance at the Total 24 Hours of Spa, dropping Bentley Team M-Sport’s main contender out of the lead battle.
Maxime Soulet brought the car in for repairs following contact with the No. 488 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 at La Source, after running in second position.
He had been trailing the leading Montaplast by Land Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 for two hours, after the Bentley had been out front earlier in the race.
The M-Sport mechanics worked on the car’s front-left suspension area before sending Vincent Abril back out.
It lost five laps in the process, dropping down to 37th position, while the team’s No. 7 car runs in 13th.
The incident between Soulet and the Am Cup-entered Rinaldi car is currently under investigation.
Tom Blomqvist moved into second behind the Land Audi, while Mercedes-AMG Team Black Falcon, ROWE Racing and Team75 Bernhard also have cars in contention.
Strakka Racing, Ombra Racing and Barwell Motorsport are out front in the Pro-Am, Silver and Am Cups, respectively.
