A heavy crash for Stephane Ortelli brought out a Full Course Yellow and safety car in the Total 24 Hours of Spa shortly after 1 a.m.

The veteran driver crashed his Emil Frey Racing Lexus RC F GT3 at Raidillon after running in 17th position.

He exited the car and has been taken to the medical center for checks.

Tom Blomqvist led the field as the race got back underway after a cleanup period, with the Walkenhorst Motorsport driver ahead of Luca Stolz.

They are followed by Raffaele Marciello, Timo Bernhard and Rene Rast.

Strakka Racing leads in Pro-Am while Barwell Motorsport’s cars are out front in both the Silver Cup and Am Cup fields.

R-Motorsport brought its No. 62 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, which started from pole, into the garage for an unscheduled brake change.

All cars are required to make a brake change with a five-minute stop during a three-hour window later in the race, and so the car will have to repeat the process again.

No further action has been taken following an incident between Maxime Soulet and a Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 which lost the Bentley driver five laps earlier in the race.
