Team WRT Audi driver Charles Weerts set the fastest lap time during the first of four official test sessions in preparation for next month’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa.
Weerts posted a time of 2:17.461 in the No. 32 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II that he shares in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup with Dries Vanthoor and Kelvin van der Linde.
Vanthoor and Weerts went straight to Spa after taking the GTWC Europe Sprint Cup points lead at Zandvoort last weekend.
Second-quickest in the three-hour Tuesday morning session was the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 driven by Nicky Catsburg.
The BMW factory driver clocked in at 2:17.857, leaving Weerts just under four-tenths clear at the top of the table.
The No. 12 Tresor by Car Collection Audi ranked third on a 2:17.862, ahead of the fourth-placed No. 51 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 from defending race winner Iron Lynx.
Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing completed the top five while Porsche squad GPX Martini Racing and Aston Martin team Beechdean AMR finished sixth and seventh, contributing to an eclectic top 10 involving six different brands.
A total of 60 cars banked times during the first session. Both Walkenhorst Motorsport BMWs and the No. 50 ROWE Racing BMW did not turn any laps.
The 51-lap haul from the No. 26 Sainteloc Racing Audi was the most completed by any car on Tuesday morning.
