Barbosa, AXR Leading with Four Hours Completed

Joao Barbosa leads Rolex 24 for AXR after four hours of running…

Joao Barbosa and Action Express Racing are currently leading the Rolex 24 at Daytona ahead of a round of pit stops with the first four hours completed, running 30 seconds clear of Matt McMurry’s Spirit of Daytona Racing car.

Dirk Mueller leads the GT Le Mans category for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing while the Mercedes-AMG Team Riley Motorsports entry is out front in GT Daytona.

The race has had several incidents so far although only one full course caution which was called for the Performance Tech Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson which stopped on track.

The field was neutralized for 11 minutes and has been green for the rest of the race so far.

The No. 82 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3, which ran near the front of the GT Daytona class for much of the opening action, caught fire in the pit lane, while other cars have had punctures and other minor mechanical issues.

Mazda Team Joest’s troubles continue with gearbox problems for the No. 77 car and a wheel coming off the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P.
