Regarding Old Trombone’s question last week regarding channel flippers turning into fans. Let’s not forget about how important racing documentaries and TV shows are when it comes to creating interest in the sport.

Personally, despite being a lifelong car enthusiast, I was never into racing until I stumbled upon Patrick Dempsey’s miniseries about racing at Le Mans a few years ago. I found it fascinating and that’s how I learned about the ALMS. I haven’t missed a Tudor/Weathertech race since.

As cable cutting becomes more common every day, it’s more likely that car guys and gals browsing for something to watch will discover documentaries like Truth in 24 or The 24 Hour War more than a race broadcasted on television.

I would love to see more documentaries or mini-series about all the modern day stories that unfold every season. In my opinion they have a much greater impact than race broadcasts.

Wow, thanks so much for including my question in your discussion, and also thanks for giving me way more respect than my comment deserved! Your arguments have pursuaded me, and I’m sure many more who are smarter than me. Even if Ryan Myrehn was the only channel-flipper to be won, that’s GREAT because Ryan contributes so much excellence for us all. Thanks again!!!

If Lexus steps up to DPi next year, could you see the Toyota factory drivers being employed for those seats, given the brands link to one another?

In the Conti series why did so many former ST teams make the jump to GS rather than TCR?

Thank you very much for the coverage over the 24 hours.

Question – what happened to drop the Lexus cars back after the pace they were showing early on? Especially Kyle Marcelli who went way down in laps?
