Scuderia Corsa has announced it will run a second car in the Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup races with Bill Sweedler and Townsend Bell returning to the team.

Sweedler and Bell will make their comeback to the California-based squad in the No. 64 Ferrari 488 GT3 and will be joined by Frankie Montecalvo for the four endurance races.

The same trio took part in the Patron Endurance Cup this year in an Alex Job Racing Audi R8 LMS.

AF Corse GTE and DS Virgin Racing Formula E driver Sam Bird, meanwhile, will complete the lineup in January’s Rolex 24.

Sweedler and Bell won the WeatherTech Championship GT Daytona title with Scuderia Corsa in 2015 and since then have competed with the team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, taking home the GTE-Am win in 2016.

“The return of Townsend and Bill to our organization is a testament to the quality of our relationship, and the addition of Frankie Montecalvo should be a great contribution,” said team owner Giacomo Mattioli.

“Combined with Sam Bird for Daytona and all of our resources, we’re very confident in a great showing and fighting for the best results possible.”

Added Bell: “It almost goes without saying that Scuderia Corsa is one of the best teams in the business.

“Our IMSA championship, our Le Mans victory, are all directly attributed to their program, and we hope to repeat the same success this year.

“It’s the most competitive era in the history of IMSA, but we’re confident we can be right in the mix.”

The second car will run alongside the previously-announced WeatherTech-backed entry driven by Cooper MacNeil and Alessandro Balzan for the full season.
