Porsche has released the first photos of its all-new 919 Hybrid, ahead of extensive testing next week in Abu Dhabi in preparation for the start of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The 2015-spec LMP1 entry features notable changes to its first-generation, race-winning model, including revised bodywork and mechanical components. It again features a 2.0-liter V4 turbo but with two unspecified energy recovery systems.

Porsche has yet to also reveal which hybrid subclass the car will compete in. The 2014 model ran in the 6 MJ class but it’s understood both the German manufacturer and Toyota had been exploring a move to 8 MJ, the maximum allowed within the rules.

The car ran for the first time at its Weissach test track last month with Marc Lieb behind the wheel. Testing is scheduled at both Yas Marina Circuit and Motorland Aragon in Spain.
