IndyCar star Juan Pablo Montoya looks set to sample the Porsche 919 Hybrid later this year, with groundwork being laid at this weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship Six Hours of Circuit of the Americas for a possible test.

Montoya is a guest of the Porsche Team today, and has been in the garage at the track looking over the team’s LMP1 challenger. He will leave the track later today before attending the Robopong 200 go-kart race, where his son Sebastian will race this weekend.

While Montoya didn’t specify a date or location where he’d like to test, plans are being implemented for a test later this year.

“It’s something I’d like to do, and yeah, it’d be cool to do a test or something,” Montoya told Sportscar365.

Per the Porsche Team on Twitter, “Talks are taking place about a possible test.”

Montoya has raced in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series and won overall at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, but has not raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans as yet in his illustrious career.

IndyCar has not released its 2016 race schedule, but with a race scheduled at Road America June 23-26, it’s possible the previous weekend would be left open, June 17-19, when next year’s Le Mans takes place.

IndyCar does have a race weekend scheduled June 4-5 at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park, the weekend of the Le Mans Test Day.
