Mads Siljehaug and Lennart Marioneck have won the 2017 Reiter Young Stars competition, securing a drive in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup next season.
The Silver-rated pair are set to compete in a Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX GT3 in the Blancpain GT Sprint Cup next season after racing in the GT4 European Series this year.
They won the second season of the Reiter Young Stars program which features student-led teams running KTM X-BOW GT4s in the GT4 European Series Northern Cup.
“It’s a dream come true!” commented Marioneck. “The Blancpain GT Series has been the biggest GT Series in Europe for years and the level of competition is very high.
“It will be a pleasure to compete with so many good drivers on such popular tracks.”
Added Siljehaug: “It feels just as good as it sounds. I’m really happy to have achieved this goal in this short time I’ve been racing internationally.”
The drivers follow 2016 winners Caitlin Wood and Marko Helistekangas who competed in the opening two Sprint Cup rounds this year before Reiter made the decision to switch over to the Endurance Cup with Tomas Enge as the third driver.
It is understood that this year’s winners will enter the Sprint Cup next season however, which features a new format with equal points-paying races.
