Team Parker Racing has revealed that it will run Nick Jones and Scott Malvern’s Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR in the British GT Championship this season.
Jones and Malvern entered the Porsche from Silverstone onwards last season, after delivery delays forced them to field a Ginetta G55 GT4 in the opening three rounds before the Porsche finally arrived mid-season.
The Cayman has been upgraded to full MR spec in time for this season and Jones is hopeful of his chances in the No. 66 Porsche.
“We’re coming at it from a totally different standpoint from 2016, which was a very tough season for a variety of reasons,” he said.
“We were learning as we went, first with the Ginetta and then the Porsche which obviously wasn’t ready, even at Donington.
“But after working closely with Team Parker and doing plenty of testing I feel like we’ve taken some big steps forward.
“Personally, I’m a lot more confident and closer to Scott in terms of pace regardless of the tires or conditions.”
Jones and Malvern’s Porsche will be the third car run by Team Parker this season, alongside two Bentleys piloted by Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt Jr., and Ian Loggie and Callum Macleod.
The No. 31 Morris/Parfitt car will sport a new livery this season which was revealed on Friday, featuring backing from haulage giant Eddie Stobart.
