Mazda Road to Indy star Nico Jamin will make his Pirelli World Challenge debut in this weekend’s GTS round at Virginia International Raceway with ANSA Motorsports, the Florida-based team has confirmed.

The 21-year-old Frenchman, who is fresh off victory in last weekend’s Indy Lights race at Barber Motorsports Park, will pilot one of the team’s KTM X-Bow GT4s, in an all-new driver lineup from the season-opening round at St Pete last month.

Jamin will join Ricco Shlaimoun in the pair of GTS entries, just a month after sweeping the opening IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda weekend at Sebring in ANSA’s Ligier JS P3 car.

“I am very happy to be back behind the wheel of one of the ANSA Motorsports’ race cars,” Jamin said. “We’ve had a lot of success together recently in LMP3, and this will be a new experience for me on the KTM GT4 in World Challenge.

“I have never driven this race car before, and I have never been to VIR either, so it will be a whole new experience for me, but it should be fun! I’d love to bring more trophies to display in Alain Nadal’s shop.”

Two-time national karting champion Shlaimoun, meanwhile, is also set for his PWC debut, as one of the youngest driver in series history at the age of 14.

“It’s a huge deal, and I have a lot riding on it,” Shlaimoun said. “Since I am only 14, there is a lot of pressure on me, but I have been practicing during the off season and know the KTM X-Bow race car and the VIR track well, so I am expecting a decent result.”

Both Frankie Montecalvo and Bill Ziegler, who drove the cars at St. Pete, have not returned, with Montecalvo focusing efforts on his new SprintX drive with Always Evolving.

The GTS class is set for Rounds 3 and 4 of the its season this weekend, in separate 50-minute Sprint races to the multi-class SprintX format.
