Multiple Cars Get Weight Breaks Ahead of Road America Race

Four GT3 models have received notable weight breaks ahead of this afternoon’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race at Road America.

Confirmed in a bulletin by SRO Motorsports Group on Sunday afternoon, the Ford Mustang GT3 EVO, Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, McLaren 720S GT3 and Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo have all been given 15 kg weight reductions.

The Ferrari 296 GT3 and BMW M4 GT3 EVO, meanwhile, have been handed 5 kg weight additions, although the Evo-spec of the Ferrari loses 5 kg from its configuration from practice and qualifying.

It’s understood both AF Corse Ferraris, which claimed the Pro and Am class poles, as well as the HP-TECH Motorsport cars are in Evo specification, with the Triarsi Competizione and Scuderia Corsa examples believed to be running to the previous generation.

Additionally, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo has been given a slight power increase across all RPM levels.

The three-hour contest gets underway at 2 p.m. CST with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
