Prema has brought in FIA World Endurance Championship driver Lorenzo Colombo to replace the injured Juan Manuel Correa for this weekend’s European Le Mans Series season-opener.
Correa announced on Friday that he will not drive Prema’s Oreca 07 Gibson in the 4 Hours of Le Castellet due to a stress fracture in his left foot.
The substitution sees Colombo come in for his ELMS debut as the designated Silver, alongside full-season drivers Ferdinand Habsburg and Louis Deletraz.
Colombo shared an Oreca with Deletraz in last month’s WEC season-opener at Sebring, where they and Robert Kubica finished fourth on Prema’s first appearance in LMP2.
A team statement issued on Monday read: “By entering the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, [Colombo] will gain valuable track time while providing the team with a boost in consistency to start the 2022 ELMS championship.
“Everyone at Prema wishes JM a very quick recovery and looks forward to welcoming him on board for the 4 Hours of Imola in about one month.”
Colombo is taking part in the official ELMS pre-season test today and tomorrow ahead of this weekend’s race event.
