Seth Lucas will make his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship debut joining Ave Motorsports’ newly announced LMP3 effort at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
The 16-year-old Ohio native will pilot the No. 4 Ligier JS P320 Nissan, which features backing from lubricant company Motul.
Lucas partners up with team owner Tony Ave and a yet-to-be-confirmed third driver.
It is set to be the second endurance outing for the American racer this year after he finished sixth overall with Herberth Motorsport at the Hankook 24H Dubai last month.
After Sebring, he will join MDK Motorsports for a full-season effort in the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS.
“The more I can be behind the wheel the better, and I can’t wait to drive in the 12 Hours of Sebring,” said Lucas.
““I will have the opportunity to complete a test in Sebring in February that will help get me up to speed, and I aim to take the knowledge and experience and transfer that to the race weekend and my second endurance race of the season.”
Ave Motorsports, meanwhile, operation steps up from the now-defunct Prototype Challenge, where it fielded a pair of Ligiers last year.
“Seth is a good young racer and the result that he has had in the past two seasons of competition proves this,” added Ave.
“I am excited to share the seat and steering wheel with a pair of young guns and at the end of 12 hours hopefully, we can celebrate on the top step of the podium.”
