Proton Competition has unveiled a new livery for its Porsche 963 Hypercar effort in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which seems to pay tribute to Porsche’s victory in the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The No. 99 car, which will be driven by Harry Tincknell, Neel Jani and Julien Andlauer, has been decked out in a white, red and black design featuring branding from logistics company F.A.T. International.
F.A.T. logos already appeared on the German squad’s customer Porsches when it ran with a WeatherTech livery in WEC and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship last year and were also visible on the car during last month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The new livery closely resembles that of the Dauer 962LM that won Le Mans in the hands of Mauro Baldi, Yannick Dalmas and Hurley Haywood in 1994, including the black top half as well as styling of the drivers’ names above the doors.
The 2024 edition of this year’s French endurance classic will mark 30 years since Porsche’s 13th overall victory at Le Mans.
F.A.T. branding also appeared on several Porsche 962s during the Group C era, as well as the TWR-Porsche WSC95 that gave Tom Kristensen his first Le Mans victory in 1997.
