The third edition of the FIA Motorsport Games will again feature a Pro-Am GT Cup and a single-driver Sprint format for Pro drivers for its third edition in Valencia.
Circuit Ricardo Tormo will host the third edition of the biennial event on Oct. 23-27 after previous editions were held at Vallelunga and Paul Ricard.
The previous edition, held in 2022, saw the French pairing of Eric Debard and Simon Gachet win the GT Cup while Australia’s Matt Campbell beat Mirko Bortolotti and Dries Vanthoor to win GT Sprint.
The single-driver sprint format, open to Gold and Platinum-graded drivers, was a new addition to the format during the previous edition and has been retained for this year.
Drivers will complete a format starting with a single, 30-minute practice session followed by a qualifying and a Superpole shootout for the 20 fastest drivers. The final then consists of a single, 40-minute race.
Platinum and Gold drivers remain ineligible for the two-driver GT Cup race, in which a team must field a lineup with a maximum combined grading of one Bronze and one Silver driver.
Their format consists of two 80-minute practice sessions, a pair of 15-minute qualifying session and a qualifying race consisting of one hour. The gold medal will then be decided by a second, one-hour race.
Additionally, a third discipline has been added in the form of GT Single Make, which will see competitors race Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli machinery.
“GT3 is one of the FIA’s biggest and most successful customer racing classes,” said Lutz Leif Linden, FIA GT Commission President.
“It is estimated that in the current homologation cycle, there are around 1500 GT3 cars racing worldwide.
Driver aids are an important feature of this class and make these cars user-friendly for drivers of all experience levels. These two characteristics alone make this class a perfect fit for an event such as the FIA Motorsport Games.
“I am therefore confident that we are going to secure a strong entry, with great geographical diversity in terms of FIA member clubs represented across GT, GT Sprint and GT Single Make competitions.”
