29 Cars on Provisional Indy 8H Entry List

A total of 29 cars are on the provisional entry list for next month’s Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour, the final round of the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS and Intercontinental GT Challenge season.

Released on Tuesday by SRO Motorsports Group, the initial entry list confirms teams only, with a number of driver lineups yet to be announced for the Oct. 10 enduro at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It marks the largest GT3 grid in event history, surpassing the 25-car fields seen the last two years.

The majority of entries are full season GTWC America teams, with only Tsunami RT, High Class Racing, Herberth Motorsport and GetSpeed set to make the trip from Europe to the Brickyard.

Additionally, Texas-based Lone Star Racing will again enter the Pro class, as it traditionally has in recent years as a Mercedes-AMG ‘Performance’ team.

Notably absent is JMR Johor Racing, which previously committed to the race and had even announced the lineup of its Pro-Am class Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

However, DragonSpeed, which will depart IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition at seasons’ end, has been a late confirmation with its Corvette, which will contest the Pro class.

Ford Racing’s projected Pro class entry has so far failed to materialize, with GTWC America entrant Dollahite Racing slated to switch to Pro-Am, in what’s believed to have been a budget-related driver lineup change.

Cameron Lawrence and Alex Sedgwick have been at the wheel of Dollahite’s Mustang GT3 EVO so far this season.

The Pro class requires a FIA Bronze or Silver-rated driver in each lineup, as has been the case all year in GTWC America.

Three-time and reigning overall winners Team WRT will miss the race for the first time since 2022, following BMW’s decision to reduce factory support for the final two IGTC rounds.

Another notable absence is 75 Express, with team owner Kenny Habul having previous commitments at the Bathurst 1000, in the 20th anniversary memorial of the death of Australian motorsport legend Peter Brock.

Pro-Am, meanwhile, swells to 20 cars provisionally, with IGTC Independent Cup drivers Kerong Li (High Class), Johannes Zelger (Tsunami RT) and Ralf Bohn (Herberth) boosting the grid, along with a yet-to-be-confirmed lineup by GetSpeed Team PCX Racing.

This comes despite Li having clinched the Bronze driver title in the globe-trotting GT3 series last weekend in Suzuka.

The Am class will see a season-high three entries, thanks to the addition of a Lone Star-run Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the expected lineup of Marc Austin, Ben Keating and Peter Dempsey.

Among the recent driver lineup confirmations include Porsche factory stars Laurin Heinrich and Kevin Estre completing Wright’s Pro-Am lineups and Indy Dontje in TR3 Racing’s Mercedes-AMG.

NTT IndyCar Series star Marcus Ericsson, meanwhile, is expected to join his brother, Hampus, and Derek DeBoer in Random Vandals Racing’s BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

The event, in its seventh and final outing at The Brickyard before relocating to Circuit of The Americas in 2027, will carry a new title sponsor in Italian watchmaker Desder.
