Farfus Leads Sorensen Entering Final Four Hours

Augusto Farfus led the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa for ROWE Racing heading into the final four hours of the race.

The Brazilian in the No. 998 BMW M4 GT3 held a 0.455-second lead over the No. 7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Sorensen, which have been nip and tuck throughout the last two hours.

Both cars pitted for routine service while under the race’s 20th Full Course Yellow, for a heavy accident by John Hartshorne in the No. 74 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 GT3, who climbed from his Prancing Horse.

The FCY and subsequent safety car was followed by another neutralization for a multi-car accident triggered by the No. 46 Team WRT BMW of Valentino Rossi, who collected the No. 8 Kessel Ferrari of Nicolo Rosi and Romain Leroux’s No. 35 Walkenhorst Aston.

Rossi’s BMW, which was running in the top-ten, sustained damage and lost one lap in the garage replacing the nose.

The No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of Davide Rigon ran third, ahead of the Mathieu Jaminet-driven No. 92 SSR Herberth Porsche 911 GT3 R in fourth.

Philip Ellis was fifth in the Gold class-leading No. 777 AlManar Racing by GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Other class leaders at the 20-hour mark included the No. 66 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II (Bronze), No. 3 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG (Silver) and No. 4 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG (Pro-Am).

A total of 13 cars remain on the lead lap heading into the race’s final stanza.
