Capestro-Dubets Tops Friday Practice at VIR

John Capestro-Dubets was quickest of the day in Pirelli GT4 America practice action at Virginia International Raceway in preparation for this weekend’s pair of rounds.

Capestro-Dubets, in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, reeled off a chart-topping 1:53.722 lap time in Friday’s second practice session.

It not only outpaced second-placed Zac Anderson by 0.247 seconds in the 45-minute session but was also quicker than Kenton Koch’s pace-setting time from morning practice.

Anderson’s No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 wound up second, ahead of Tyler Gonzalez in the No. 68 Smooge Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO.

Tyler McQuarrie was quickest of the Pro-Am class competitors in his No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW, which wound up fourth, while Koch’s No. 97 Random Vandals Racing BMW completed the overall to-five.

The No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche of Kay van Berlo was sixth, followed by the No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 and No 22 TechSport Nissan Z NISMO GT4.

Heart of Racing Team’s Roman De Angelis and Hannah Grisham completed the overall top-ten, with the No. 099 Rotek Racing Porsche of Jaden Lander and Robb Holland the quickest of the Am class competitors.

The session ran without any red flags.

Qualifying for GT4 America is scheduled for Saturday at 10:25 a.m. EDT, followed by Race 1 at 5 p.m., which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
