IMSA has impounded seven of the 11 GTP cars that took part in Sunday’s Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in order to take part in extended technical inspections.

Confirmed to teams in a competition bulletin following the conclusion of Sunday’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup round, the two-day process is slated to begin on Monday morning and wrap up Tuesday afternoon at IMS.

It includes the winning No. 24 Team RLL BMW M Hybrid V8, and at least one car from each of the five GTP manufacturers.

An IMSA statement read: “At the conclusion of the Battle on the Bricks, IMSA impounded selected GTP cars to conduct extended post-race technical inspection through Monday and Tuesday.

“The impounded cars are as follows: No. 24, No. 6, No. 85, No. 40, No. 5, No. 01 and No. 63.

“Periodically, such as following January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, extended technical inspections are performed by IMSA as due diligence in ensuring technical compliance.

“Race results will remain provisional until these inspections are completed. IMSA is committed to providing close and competitive racing for the fans and a fair and even playing field for manufacturers and competitors.”

According to the bulletin, items that are subject to additional inspection include bodywork and floor components, brake and cooling systems, electronics and suspension.

Official results will be posted once the complete inspection process is completed.
