Both the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 will head into next weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-ending Motul Petit Le Mans with Balance of Performance breaks.
Confirmed in a technical bulletin from IMSA on Tuesday, the McLaren, which only runs in GTD Pro with Pfaff Motorsports following Inception Racing’s switch to a Ferrari 296 GT3, will be 10 kg lighter for the ten-hour enduro at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
Additionally, the Acura has regained some of its power back following a previous BoP change, meaning it will run with 11.3 additional horsepower, in its last expected WeatherTech Championship outing in the GTD class.
IMSA has also tweaked the BoP for the GTP category, most notably the recent Battle on the Bricks-winning BMW M Hybrid V8, which gets a 5 kg increase in minimum weight but countered with a 3 kW (4 hp) increase in maximum power.
While weights for the Acura ARX-06, Cadillac V-Series.R and Lamborghini SC63 remain unchanged, the Porsche 963 gains 1 kg since Indy, while faces a 3 kW reduction (4 hp) in maximum power.
The Acura has a 2 kW (2.68 hp) reduction, with the Cadillac at 1 kW less of power (1.3 hp), while conversely, the Lamborghini gains 1 kW.
